Feeling the Blues at World Famous Johnny’s Bar and Grill
Aug. 20, 2014 in Hollister CA - Johnnys Bar & Grill
Burgers Blues Bash at Johnny's Bar & Grill great FUN, tasty Burgers & Rockin' Blues music by Wild Pack Band.
One Fun Night of Blues, Burgers and Helping the Community
Since 1946, Johnny’s Bar & Grill has been part of history, and American legacy. Farmers and business men would pack the place for the greasy cheese burgers. Then in 1947 Wino Willie and his Boozefighter’s took over Hollister. They cut loose and one of their guys drove through Johnny’s on his motorcycle. The incident was even depicted in the July 1947 issue of Life Magazine and inspired the 1953 movie “The Wild Ones” with Marlon Brando and Lee Marvin. - See More Photos -
In 1947 the hard working farmers, cowboys loved the camaraderie they found at Johnny’s, and today more than sixty five years later, they still do; and the bikers join them. Now, you can be a part of something special too.
On August 20, 2014 6PM - 9 PM, you can help Johnny’s Bar & Grill feed the hungry and listen to great blues music at the Burgers Blues Bash. The event is a food drive to benefit Hollister’s Community Food Bank. The event is FREE to the public, any ages welcome. Non-perishable food item; such as canned and dried goods will be collected at the door.
The Burgers Blues Bash at Johnny’s Bar & Grill, at 526 San Benito Street, in beautiful Hollister California is part of a West Coast food drive tour, an idea created by blues music duo “Wild Pack”. The band combines old school blues classics with a heavy blues rock sound of the 1960’s and 1970's. “We’re sort of a fun rockin’, beer drinkin’, booty shakin’ blues”, says bassists Sweet.
“This event is a great time for this event because food banks are in need,” said John Pack, Director, Blues Against Hunger. "In tough economic times everyone needs hope and occasional help, especially those living in poverty. Statistically, donations are much lower over the summer months forcing many families and elderly to turn to food banks and donations for help."
John continues, “This food drive is a great way to benefit the community two-fold. We help provide much needed food for families while giving the local communities a fun and inexpensive way to be exposed to blues music and help their community.”
Blues Against Hunger will be collecting as much food as possible for the Community Food Bank of San Benito County, but the donations don’t need to stop. Regular and on-going support is needed. This initiative is part of Blues Against Hunger’s community outreach campaign, bringing people together to address human needs and transform lives on the West Coast. Please donate to your local food bank, or visit BLUESAGAINSTHUNGER.ORG to find a food bank near you.
