Drummer Brayan Ortega of Rock Soul will be Joining the Jam to Fight Hunger
Brayan is a drummer that sort of fell into it. He has only been playing drums for a year and learned by jumping into the fire. Brayan said his band Rock Soul asked him if he wanted to play, and he said "I didn't know how to play", but then they told him "he didn't have to know how to play" and with that Brayan said "yes" and became a drummer.
When it comes to the music he most loves to play, Brayan says "definitely blues, I really love it, there's nothing better than to play a blues song". He says "the feeling that blues gives me is indescribable, I can't explain the feeling if you don't listen and feel a blues song yourself."
As a new drummer, he found playing the music himself, instead of just listening is so much more enjoyable and finds it is a way for him to let out all the stresses of life. Brayan says he especially loves playing at Jollymon, "the people that visit Jollymon are awesome, they love to dance and they like our music".
As a new musician, Brayan's goal is to play the San Felipe blues fest and to get to know more musicians, he believes it is an excellent way to learn more and become a better drummer.
Brayan says is excited to participate in Blues Against Hunger because he "really like to play for a good reason" and says his band Rock Soul assist all the charity events that they were invited. And he says that hunger in San Felipe is a problem and "you can see it in public schools". This event lets him "do one thing with two purposes" - play his music and help his community.
