Arturo Cardenas Guitarist of Tijuana Joins the Fight Against Hunger

About Arthur "Arturo" Cardenas:
Guitarist Arthur "Arturo" Cardenas was born in Guadalajara Jalisco Mexico on April 13, 1952. In 1973 he got into the University of Guadalajara Music School where he studied classical music, while at the same time he formed his first band "La Wells" and played rock and blues in local clubs and parties for three years, while also studying Industrial Engineering, and continued until he graduated as an engineer in 1978.

That same year, he moves to Los Angeles and formed a new band called "Empty Past" and again began playing in local clubs and lots of backyard Latino parties. Most of his life, Arturo was dedicated to his Industrial Engineering career and worked in Los Angeles, Arizona, New Jersey and Connecticut and is an amateur musician, he also playing weekends in open jams. In 2010, he returned to Tijuana, Mexico and formed "La Baja Blues" and played for two years locally and the Roctubre (October Rock) Festival at the CeCUT, Center of Cultural Arts in Tijuana. 

In 2013, he began going to the Blues and Jam Fronterizo in Tijuana where he was invited to participate with Hola Soy Lola band as lead guitar and musical director. Together with the Hola Soy Lola Band, they played in local clubs all around the Tijuana and Rosarito Beach. Arturo contributed to bringing Hola Soy Lola Band to a bigger audience, participating in the Gator by the Bay Blues Festival, the Baja Blues Fest where he has performed three years, two with Hola Soy Lola and one with JI Blues All-Stars. He also performed with Hola Soy Lola in the Tijuana City Anniversary concert with top class bands from throughout Mexico, The Tijuana Jazz and Blues Festival for two years 2015 and 2016. 

After leaving Hola Soy Lola due to his own personal reasons. In 2016 he performed at the Baja Sand Fest with Sweet Sixx and The Wild Pack and again at the Blues Against Hunger is Valle de Guadalupe in Baja.  At the moment Arturo keeps jamming around with different bands locally in Tijuana and San Diego. Arturo's major influences on guitar are Albert King, BB King, Freddy King, Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Buddy Guy, Johnny Winter, Dicky Betts, Peter Green, David Gilmour and much more.
